The photos of the decorated sample of the Class 14 have certainly stirred up some discussion. The shade of paint on the cab exterior is the culprit, and it did not help that my lighting was, shall we say, not of the best!!!
Thank you to all that contributed, and especially to Adam Wright who sent me photos of the D95xxs under construction in Swindon. They clearly show the colour, and this is what we will be going for.

Thanks for the enlightenment Chris. Colour and shade are subject to a lot of variation dependant on lighting. I also appreciate the accompanying picture as I will be finishing my model as D9502 for a layout set in The Forest of Dean during late 1964. I already have several pictures of her working, and a full restoration has just been completed at The East Lancashire Railway just a few miles from my home. Amazingly, on arrival in 2014, she was still wearing original Swindon applied paint 50 years after entering service.
