New GW Wooden Minks
On the 31st October, we announced the production of a series of fine-scale RTR, injection-moulded 0 gauge models of the Great Western Railway (GWR) MINK wooden-bodied goods van in 7mm scale (1:43.5, for 32mm standard gauge). They follow our successful GWR MINKS, Gunpowder vans and Opens
We had intended to launch 3 models, depicting a total of 3 different diagrams, to be released over the next 12 months, the first becoming available in the spring of 2021. However, conversation with the factory has shown that by leaving the V14 for a future run, but using the body mould with the earlier, tapered buffer, production could be advanced significantly. Three diagrams were to be available initially, the V4 as per the CAD drawing above, V12 with the end vents in the closed position and V14 with the twin end bonnets, and with self contained buffers. The revised plan postpones the V14, but will produce another variant of the V12 with the later twin end vents. The good news is that they will all now be ready for Spring 2021.
The models will feature a plastic injection-moulded body and chassis, metal-tyred wheels on shouldered axles fitted in compensated axle-boxes, sprung buffers and hook draw-gear with three-link couplings. A removable steel ballast weight will be internally clipped to the floor to ensure good running.
All versions will be £48.00 each plus £4 carriage per order. Orders for five or more vans will be £45 each. Delivery is expected in Spring 2021 as tooling is complete.
The models will only be available direct from Minerva Models via mail and telephone order, the Minerva website and from the Minerva Models’ stand at selected model railway shows, when they restart!
News on the Class 14
We are now expecting the Class 14 to be with us in February 2021. However until they appear on the doorstep, predictions in these uncertain times are difficult, so if you are one of the 300 or so waiting, please be as patient as possible. It is certainly worth it!!
